Alex
After finding inspiration in the writings of Thich Nhat Hanh and Bhante Gunaratana, Alex started practicing meditation while an undergraduate psychology student at Virginia Tech. He saw this as way to explore psychology experientially and reduce his anxiety through greater mindfulness. Since that time, Alex has continually sought ways to integrate this practice into his life by participating in meditation groups and retreats, volunteer work, and earning his master’s incommunity mental health counseling.

Two years ago Alex started teaching mindfulness meditation as a volunteer with Insight Meditation Community of Washington’s prison dharma program, Insight on the Inside. As a facilitator at the Arlington County Detention Facility, he seeks to the guide individuals in contemplative practice with a focus on developing greater self-awareness, self-esteem, empathy, and compassion.

Alex is excited to further his work as a counselor and meditation instructor. He hopes to share the wisdom of mindful awareness, concentration practice, interbeing (the interconnectedness of all things), and compassion with his clients.
