In January of 2015, I was first introduced to Yoga by my wife, Tayla, who took me to my very first Hot Power Yoga class. It was a struggle for me to make it through the class, as I was not prepared nor conditioned to the practice in the heat. Prior to my very first yoga practice I had been trying to tell myself that yoga wouldn’t be for me because I wasn’t flexible enough, that I was a guy and yoga is for women, and what if I was terrible at it? I was giving myself every excuse as to why I shouldn’t do yoga, as opposed to trying it, and realizing every reason why I should.
Although my first practice was incredibly difficult, all I knew was that strength is in the struggle. I felt connected with the practice, although I didn’t fully understand at the time all the reasons why. I continued to practice at minimum 4-5 times a week and fell absolutely in love with the practice. I was getting stronger, more flexible, experiencing a sweat unlike I’ve ever had, and it helped my mind more than any other physical exercise I had done in the past. A few months later, I decided to get certified in yoga so that I could share this new passion and practice of mine with everybody that I could. I got certified in late 2015 in a 200hr Hot Power Yoga certification course through CorePower Yoga.
I love to teach, I love to practice, I love to share my yoga journey with others in hopes that they too will decide to take their first step into this incredible journey that they may also find to be their new home. Hot Power Yoga is my passion, and I encourage everybody to give it a try!
