STEVE
STEVE D.
Steve is a positive, energetic, knowledgeable leader with a lifetime of experience in fitness/wellness and competitive sports and a strong background in health sciences and health care. Steve has been a trainer at Energy since 2014 but his fitness journey began at a very young age. He is the oldest of an athletic family of seven children—five of whom played college soccer. He has been a multi-sport athlete, gym rat, and health nut for as long as he can remember. In high school he was a baseball all-star, track standout, and captain of the soccer team. In college he was a two sport athlete (soccer and baseball). As a teenager Steve started to get serious about strength training and conditioning to give him an edge in sports as well as to maximize his quality of life. After getting his bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University, Steve spent two years in physical therapy graduate school before coming to the realization that he did not want to spend the rest of his life working in a clinical setting.
Steve’s training style can be described as eclectic, functional cross training. He has a passion for designing highly individualized programs incorporating a fun but challenging mix of classic strength training, calisthenics, agility work, H.I.I.T., yoga, and Pilates—with an emphasis on basic, natural movements and the ultimate goal of enhancing overall fitness and quality of life. Steve’s approach to fitness and sports is forward-thinking, creative, holistic, and science-based. He is also a big proponent of utilizing proper nutrition and rest for optimum performance and recovery. Steve has a proven ability to motivate, elevate, and inspire clients regardless of fitness level and abilities—encouraging habits that are empowering and life changing.
Steve enjoyed careers in healthcare as a counselor/case manager and in graphic design before coming full circle back to his fitness roots. If he weren’t working in health and fitness he would probably be trying his best to help make the world a better place in the fields of art, music, or the environment.
