Mckenzie
Born in rural South Jersey, USA, Mckenzie has always loved movement. First and foremost a dancer, with a side of gymnastics, and two years on her high school cross country team, Mckenzie discovered her passion for movement early on. At 16, she moved to New York City to attend the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet, where she first experienced reformer pilates and began practicing yoga. Mckenzie then attended New York University as a dance major in the Tisch School of the Arts, and added on a journalism major by the end of her first year. During school, Mckenzie discovered the boutique fitness scene of New York City, working at SoulCycle. After graduating summa cum laude, Mckenzie left SoulCycle in order to perform as a cast member for RWS Entertainment Group on Holland America Line’s Eurodam. After seven months at sea, Mckenzie returned to New York. She worked as a freelance artist, dancing for various companies across the city, such as Vanessa Long Dance Company at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and was also commissioned to perform her solo "Version 2" at Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater. While dancing, Mckenzie continued her education, completing her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, as well as a boxing training at Box + Flow. She began teaching classes in both disciplines. Wanting a little more, Mckenzie began coaching for [solidcore] after completing their megaformer training, and found her way back to the bike, teaching indoor cycling for Life Time Fitness. As all the pieces fell into place, COVID hit, prompting a sudden move to Miami. After a brief stint in Miami to coach for [solidcore] and teach for Hot Beach Yoga, Mckenzie moved to Abu Dhabi to become the competition director for Arabesque Ballet Center. Mckenzie came to The Room her very first week in town, falling in love with the community, and joined the Care Team the following week.
