Amina G.
Hometown: Washington DC
Personal Favorites activities: I love to dance (freestyle), I enjoy running & cycling in/outside & Wu Shu kung Fu sparring.
My Fitness Philosophy: Living is a constant unconscious and conscious motion but we must strive to find peaceful balance physically, mentally and socially in the midst of commotion and motion.
I found my nitch during the days and many hours spent in different dance studios from the time I was 5 in my first ballet class. I continued throughout college and semi professionally performing. Teaching performing Arts and Health Education to the young became my priority instead of auditioning. I started teaching Mat Pilates and gradually progressed to higher levels of this movement system, over the past 15 years. I love to see the body during practice executing what the mind clearly understands. Whether I am teaching my middle school students or my middle age clients, I encourage each group to focus their thoughts on the skill so the mind remains alert and present to what the body must do. This connection of mind and body is my key to fitness practice in a ‘Mindful way’. Alignment, Articulation, Balance and Coordination, I call them the ABC skills are thread through everything I coach. Whether the fitness format is Barre, Cycle, Mat Pilate, Pilates w/ apparatus or Foundations my style is always rooted in the ABCs.
Fitness is everyone’s goal and it is my job to know the dos and don’t on the way there. I love what I do and I strive to help everyone enjoy sculpting the body they live in.
